The Anaheim Ducks announced yesterday that they’ve claimed forward Lucas Elvenes, who had been placed on unconditional waivers by the Vegas Golden Knights for the purpose of contract termination.

Elvenes was selected by the Golden Knights in the fifth round of the 2017 NHL Draft. He’s been playing in the AHL since 2019 and had two goals and 10 points in 20 games with the Henderson Silver Knights this season.

At just 22 years old, Elvenes is still very young and has posted good numbers in the minors, scoring as many as 48 points in 59 games with the Chicago Wolves as a 20-year-old in the 2019-20 season. While it’s somewhat of a surprising claim for the Ducks, Elvenes will report to the AHL’s San Diego Gulls.
