Devils Terrible Weekend Just Awful |

They almost beat the Metropolitan Division leading Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday. Yet, they could not score a single goal against the Detroit Red Wings, who have given up 306 goals this season.
After going 3-1-1 on a recent western road trip, the New Jersey Devils are now on a seven game home losing streak, with three losses in four days. It has been frustrating all season for Devils fans with the inconsistent performances.
“What really hurt us was that some of our puck play wasn’t sharp,” Devils head coach Lindy Ruff said.
There were some positives this past weekend however. Devils goaltenders Jon Gillies and Andrew Hammond played well and kept their team in the game. Utica Comets call ups, Kevin Bahl and Nikita Okhotyuk, have made their presence known and can be physical.
There are three more games left in the season as the Devils will head to Ottawa and Raleigh in the next few days before the season finale against the Red Wings on Friday.
After that, time to watch the (future of the NJ Devils) Utica Comets!
Pulling the goalie too early?
I understand that there is nothing to lose in this lame duck part of the season. But pulling the goaltender with nearly three minutes left in the third period while down 1-0?
Maybe Lindy did not have confidence in his offense to generate chances. Kind of like how former New York Giants head coach Joe Judge ran QB sneaks on 3rd down and 9 because he had no confidence in his third string quarterback Jake Fromm.
