1. Cash Kids

Columbus has some big money pending RFAs on their roster this summer, giving Jackets’ management a lot to think about with the direction of their team. On offense, there is both players acquired from Winnipeg: Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic. There is also the kids in house: Liam Foudy, Emil Bemstrom, Kevin Stenlund, Carson Meyer, Josh Dunne, and Trey Fix-Wolansky. On the defense, there is Adam Boqvist and Gabriel Carlsson as the only two. In goaltending, the lone wolf is Daniil Tarasov. There is going to be a lot of action this summer, but the talking will have to begin first before there’s any resolution.

2. Draft Lottery

Tonight we find out the official order of the Top 16 of the NHL Draft for 2022, that will be taking place on July 7 and 8 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada at Centre Bell. The lottery is taking place at 6:30pm EST on Sportsnet and ESPN. Columbus may hold only one first round pick after tonight if the pick from the Blackhawks is in the Top 2. However, the Columbus pick is in the top 2 and the Chicago pick is not, then the Jackets keep both since the condition is only on the Blackhawks’ pick thanks to the Seth Jones deal swung last summer. Popcorn and couch sitting will be desired at this time.


3. Cleveland Change

It was announced at month’s end that the coach of the Cleveland Monsters has left the position. This opens opportunity and direction of the prospects in the system, as well as a job vacancy in the organization. Not sure how to read into further until more names come out, haven’t heard what is happening as of yet aside the general searching internally.
