First round of the playoffs - YTD - 19-13 + 7.32 Units
I always like to watch the first set of games of each round to get a better handle on how each series sets up. Through the first four games we had favs go 3-1, while 3 of 4 games went under the total. There are fewer penalties being called through the first two nights and you can see the adrenalin of the first round is starting to crash a bit with players. I expect we will see a much tighter/defensive game most of the time in the second round. The better talent in goal will prevail most nights. Again, in-game action will be the way to go for me most nights when it comes to playing a side.
On another note, I will be compiling the results of round 1 for the playoff pool tonight and sending out the first round standings. Thanks for your patience.
TB/FL - The Panthers looked flat in Game 1 plus their PP is zero for 21 in the playoffs, that's something that needs to change as TB scored 3 PP goals in Game 1. I look for another low scoring game and for the goaltenders to be the story in Game 2. This is a must win for FL as they can't afford to go back to TB down 2 games. Lean to the under 6.5 and FL -169.
STL/COL - Since Binnington went into goal for STL in Game 4 of the playoffs, he's been outstanding and in Game 1 against the Avs, he almost single handedly stole the game. The Blues play a very heavy style of hockey and the last thing the Avs want is a long series, as it will wear them down. Lean to the under 6.5 and a very small lean to STL +204, as I can't pass up that price.
