The Canadiens’ training camp will include 8 preseason games this year and unlike most years, if the cap clearing process goes according to plan, there should be more regular posts available with the Habs. Montreal will be taking on the Ottawa Senators 4 times, once in Ottawa, once in Montreal and twice as part of Kraft’s Hockeyville in Twillingate, Newfoundland and Elsipogtog, New Brunswick. There will be 2 duels with the Leafs, one with the Jets in Montreal and another one with the Devils in town as well.
Normally, preseason games are not what one can call very thrilling, but this season, if HuGo stays the course there could be some interesting battles for regular post with the big club. It’s safe to assume that by then, Jeff Petry will be gone and whether his post is filled by a newly brought in vet or one of the young prospects, fans will see some fresh meat. Jordan Harris, Justin Barron, Kaiden Guhle, Arber Xhekaj, Mattias Norlinder, Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Jesse Ylonen, Joshua Roy, Riley Kidney and Jan Mysak are just some of the names to watch.
Happy Canada day to all my Canadian readers and hang in there, in one week the whole Wright or Slafkovsky debate will be history and in just 13 days, free agency season will open, depending on what kind of trades if any the Habs can make until then they could be active or stay put, time will tell.
Le camp d’entraînement des Canadiens inclura 8 matchs présaison cette année et, contrairement à d’habitude, si le plan de liquidation de gros contrats se déroule bien, il devrait y avoir plusieurs postes réguliers de disponible avec les Habs. Montréal affrontera les Sénateurs à 4 reprises, une fois à Ottawa et à Montréal et 2 fois dans le cadre du concours Kraft Hockeytown à Twillingate à Terre-Neuve et à Elsipogtog au Nouveau-Brunswick. Il y aura de plus 2 duels contre les Leafs, un contre les Jets à Montréal et un autre contre les Devils.
Normalement, les matchs présaison ne sont pas ce que l’on pourrait qualifier de passionnant, mais cette saison, si HuGo garde le cap sur la reconstruction il pourrait y avoir quelques batailles intéressantes pour des postes avec le grand club. Je crois qu’on peut affirmer sans se tromper que Jeff Petry sera sous d’autres cieux et que ses patins soient chaussés par un vétéran nouvellement acquis ou par l’un des jeunes espoirs, les fans auront de la nouveauté à se mettre sous la dent. Jordan Harris, Justin Barron, Kaiden Guhle, Arber Xhekaj, Mattias Norlinder, Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Jesse Ylonen, Joshua Roy, Riley Kidney et Jan Mysak ne sont que quelques-uns des noms qui seront à surveiller.
