The 2022 NHL Draft took place on Thursday and Friday, with the New York Islanders making a total of five selections.

The Islanders didn’t have a first-round pick following the Alexander Romanov trade with the Montreal Canadiens, but did have picks in rounds two through six. Here’s a recap of who they selected.

CALLE ODELIUS (2ND ROUND, 65TH OVERALL)- Odelius is a left-handed defenseman from Sweden. He spent the majority of the season playing in the country’s junior league and posted great numbers, with seven goals and 30 points in 43 games. Odelius also suited up for seven SHL games and stands at 5-foot-11.

QUINN FINLEY (3RD ROUND, 78TH OVERALL)- Finley is a left winger playing in the USHL. He had 12 goals and 29 points in 39 games with the Madison Capitols making for strong, though unspectacular production.

ISAIAH GEORGE (4TH ROUND, 98TH OVERALL)- The Islanders acquired the 98th pick as part of the Romanov trade. George is another left-handed defenseman who plays with the OHL’s London Knights and this season, he managed six goals and 23 points in 67 games.

MATTHEW MAGGIO (5TH ROUND, 142ND OVERALL)- Maggio was selected after being passed over in last year’s draft. He produced at a great rate in his final year of OHL eligibility (outside of overage status), scoring 38 goals and 85 points in 66 games with the Windsor Spitfires.

DAYLAN KUEFLER (6TH ROUND, 174TH OVERALL)- Kuefler was also passed over in previous drafts and is a 2002 birth year. The left winger scored 38 goals and 59 points in 65 games with the WHL’s Kamloops Blazers this season.
