After the winter postponement, the return of 2022 WJC Tournament begins this Tuesday, August 9, 2022. There are 5 Blue Jackets representing their countries. Below are the 5 and where they project to be throughout the tournament. What are your thoughts? Comment below!

Team Canada

F Kent Johnson

KJ burned his first year of his entry level contract with the Columbus blue jackets after being with one of the strongest collegiate teams in hockey history. With 37 points in 32 games in his sophomore season, Johnson had 3 assists in his first 9 regular season games. Him being with Shane Wright on team Canada would be intriguing. His skill and play making can match with a big body center. Johnson doesn’t slide below the top 6.

Team Czechia

D David Jiricek (A)

David Jiricek is getting his second crack at the world juniors after suffering a knee injury the first time around. As an alternate captain and having a booming slap shot from anywhere at anytime, Jiricek will be on their top pair.

D Stanislav Svozil

Stanislav Svozil had a successful first season in North America, having 41 points in 59 games as a defenseman for Connor Bedard’s WHL Regina Pats. He will be a top 4 for his country.

F Martin Rysavy

Martin Rysavy had 18 points in 45 games in his first North American season with the Mosse Jaw Warriors of the WHL. He will be a bottom 6 forward.


Team Slovakia

D Samuel Knazko (C)

Samuel Knazko is the captain for the Slovakian team. In his first season of North American ice, with the Seattle Thunderbirds, Knazko had 20 points in 27 games, plus 14 points in 15 games with his countrymen. He will be a top 4 defenseman with his Country this tournament.
