After a slow first two days in the tourney, largely due to only one of the seven Rangers in the tournament being in action on Day 2, the Blueshirts prospects had a much better Day 3. The three members of Team Canada all had solid performances while the sole player on Team Czechia had the first goal overall by a New York prospect. As a reminder, here are the seven New York athletes suiting up, all of whom played Thursday night.

G Dylan Garand- Canada- 2020 fourth-round pick (103rd)
LW Brett Berard- United States- 2020 fifth-round pick (134th)
LW Will Cuylle- Canada- 2020 second-round pick (60th)
LW Brennan Othmann- Canada- 2021 first-round pick (16th)
RW Jaroslav Chmelar- Czechia- 2021 fifth-round pick (144th)
RW Kalle Väisänen- Finland- 2021 fourth-round pick (106th)
C/LW Adam Sýkora- Slovakia- 2022 second-round pick (63rd)

Jaroslav Chmelar skated on the second line and tallied Czechia's first goal in a 4-3 overtime loss to Finland. Kalle Väisänen dressed and played eight minutes on the fourth line but didn't dent the scoresheet. It was the first game for each player.

Dylan Garard got the start in net after Sebastian Cossa played the night before. Garard did not disappoint, stopping 22 of 23 shots against an overwhelmed Slovakian squad. Brennan Othmann, a healthy scratch in Game 1, potted a goal and two assists while skating on the fourth line with Will Cuylle, with the two pairing up to hit the scoresheet on the marker by Othmaan following the steal and beautiful dish by Cuylle. As the game wore on, lines were mixed and matched, with Othmann skating with Mason McTavish who had four goals and a pair of helpers, showing he belonged in the top-six if need be. Cuylle added a goal of his own to go with the assist.

Adam Sykora, who skated on Slovakia's first line, did not hit the scoresheet. The Rangers will need to decide if Sykora would benefit more from coming to North America to play or remain overseas. Sykora is the one Rangers prospect in action Friday as Slovakia take on Latvia.

Brett Berard lined up on the third forward trio for Team USA versus Switzerland. Berard was scoreless in 16:48 of ice time for the second straight contest in USA's 7-1 victory. I haven't seen that much from Berard the first two games, but on a stacked forward unit, I did not expect him to be a major contributor.
