Team Canada and Joshua Roy beat Switzerland 6-3 yesterday to book their ticket to tomorrow’s semi final. This was not a surprising result and once again Roy was used generously by Dave King, spending 19:33 on the ice over 29 shifts, second in ice time amongst forwards only to captain Mason McTavish. While Roy lost his spot on the first line early in the tournament, his ice-time never went down, and his line remains the one called upon by the coaches to fulfil a variety of challenges at both ends of the ice.

In the last game of a busy day in Edmonton, Czechia upset the USA with a 4-2 win in which Jan Mysak played a bit role. He might have only got the first goal of the Czech team, but he finished his night with a +3 rating. All the way through the tournament, he’s been their leader. Wearing the “C”, he has led through example in every single game being defensively responsible but also putting on his fair share of points. (4 goals and 2 assists in 5 games). Habs fans shouldn’t expect Mysak to be an offensive star in the NHL, he doesn’t really have elite attacking skills, but he will definitely be a reliable forward ready to undertake any mission he’s entrusted with.

Both Sweden and Finland also booked their place in the semi-final meaning that tomorrow, they will face each other at 8:00 PM while Canada and Czechia will be battling out at 4:00 PM. In other words, all of the Canadiens’ prospects who made their national team are still in contention and could all go home with a medal to show for their efforts.
