An interesting name to note from the above list is Tag Bertuzzi, the son of Todd Bertuzzi (who had a very short stint with the Cats), and cousin of Tyler Bertuzzi. I was hoping he might have a similar game to the latter, but upon researching him, I found it difficult to find much in the way of a scouting report, draft info, etc…

From what I gather it seems like he has not been drafted by an NHL team? Per an article from the Flint Firebirds in October of 2021:

Bertuzzi was the 2nd overall pick in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection Draft by the Guelph Storm. He was traded to the Hamilton Bulldogs during the 2018-19 season. In 2019-20, Bertuzzi produced 25 G and 22 A in just 57 GP, all OHL career highs. During the 2020-21 season, Bertuzzi was loaned to HK Levice (Slovakia) where he produced 23 points (7 G, 16 A) in 22 GP.”

I saw another article that says he’s been a free agent since his time in Flint, and that injuries have hampered his physical play. I’m not really sure what to think, but with his last name, I’m curious to see what he brings at the showcase.

I like this prospect tournament because it always feels like the cooler match before the main event (the real training camp later this month).

Looking forward to things kicking off next week!
