The Rangers kick off their road to what is hopefully a Stanley Cup with the opening of training camp today. As seen from the roster below, seemingly everyone and their grandmother has been invited to camp this year or at least it looks that way., In terms of numbers, 41 forwards, 18 defensemen and seven goalies for a total of 68 players in camp..

A lot of the questions posed by the columnists in columns today are ones we discussed over the summer. Is Vincent Trocheck an upgrade over Ryan Strome and how will he mesh with Artemi Panarin? Can Filip Chytil build on his postseason success to be the third line center or is he better suited for wing? What does Chris Kreider do for an encore? Who is the third pair, left handed defenseman? How does the bottom-six shake up? Has Vitali Kravtsov grown up and is the third line right winger? Where does Alexis Lafreniere play, in terms of which line and wing? Those questions and many more will be answered starting in camp and into the early part of the season. I am sure we will be revisiting these queries and several others many times during the course of the 2022-23 campaign.

Some key dates with the regular season just three weeks away. All the players are actually in camp, showing the commitment to be there on time and build off last year's ECF run. Scrimmage tomorrow and first preseason game Monday against the Isles.

A behind the scenes look at the rookie camp game. Quick two minute video of some highlights and Kris Knoblauch. The team does a nice job with these short, vignette-like videos.

To lay out some schedule info. I am out of pocket this Sunday night to Tuesday night for Rosh Hashana. The following week, it's Tuesday late-afternoon to Wednesday evening. Then, the two subsequent weeks, I will be unavailable Sunday night to Tuesday night for the remainder of the Jewish holidays. This info will be posted at the bottom of almost every blog over the next weeks so that everyone remains in the loop.
