Friday, the Chicago Blackhawks announced a series of roster moves bringing their training camp roster size down to 50 players (27 forwards, 14 defensemen, and 6 goalies). The biggest name on this group of cuts was Evan Barratt, who was once considered to be a high prospect for the club but has yet to find his break into the NHL. With only 11 days until opening night, expect more names to be cut from camp in the following days.
The Hawks are back at with with two games this weekend.

First up is Detroit coming to town looking for a little preseason revenge after falling to the Hawks 4-2 on Wednesday. Charlie Roumeliotis has the project line up for this game:
It looks like Coach Richardson is really going to be pushing forward with the Tyler Johnson, Jonathan Toews, Tyler Raddysh line. They played ok together against St Louis this past Tuesday, but for me I still see Johnson in more of the 3C role. However, I will say I appreciate Richardson sticking with the same lines and not just using the line blender that this team has been used to since the Coach Q Days.
This defensive group is going to be very interesting to watch as it is stacked with a bunch of the prospects (and Jack Johnson). Going to be great to see what the kids can do out there and get a nice gauge on where Allan, Beaudin, and Phillips are.
Minnesota in Milwaukee 6:30pm CT NBCSN and NHL Network
The show gets taken on the road as the Hawks will battle the Wild in the “Home away from Home Series”.
Projected lines via Charlie Roumeliotis:
Much like Saturdays line-up, when it comes to roster locks, Coach Richardson is sticking with the same lines. I really think this Athanasiou-Domi-Kane line has some potential to be a solid first line. I liked what I saw from Athanasiou on Tuesday with his speed however his lack of ability to finish brings flashbacks to Viktor Stalberg. He did seem to work well with Kaner, but we all know Kane can make who ever is on his line look good. I am hoping to see more from Domi as he seemed to be the forgotten man against the Blues.
Again, like Saturdays line up, I am excited to watch this defensive group… Well I should say I am excited to watch Korchinski. This kid is going to be special and if this might be his last game with the team before they send him back to the WHL I for one am going to enjoy it. There may be more adjustment with this group. Connor Murphy could play as he was taking a maintenance day due to back soreness.
There is a look ahead at this weekends games and unless there is some major news I will be back Monday with my takeaways from these two games. Have a great weekend guys and Go Hawks!
