Game 15 Preview: Flyers vs. Stars

John Tortorella's Philadelphia Flyers (7-5-2) are home on Sunday to take on Peter DeBoer's Dallas Stars (8-5-1) for Military Appreciation Day. Game time at the Wells Fargo Center is 1:00 p.m. ET.

The Flyers, who lost 4-1 to the visiting Ottawa Senators on Saturday afternoon, are playing for the third time in less than four nights. Philadelphia comes into this game having lost back-to-back regulation decisions for the first time this season.

The Stars, likewise, lost each of their two previous games in regulation. Following a 5-1 road setback on Tuesday against the Winnipeg Jets, the Stars lost on home ice, 5-4, to the San Jose Sharks on Friday. Before that, Dallas had won three straight games and four of their previous five.

Entering Sunday's game, the Stars are ranked sixth in the NHL with a team 2.64 goals against average. The Flyers rank eighth at a 2.71 GAA. As a team, the Stars rank 7th in the NHL with an average 3.64 goals per game. Philly ranks 31st at 2.57 goals per game.

Phantoms Win 3rd in a Row

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms (5-5-1) earned a 3-2 home win against the Laval Rocket (3-7-3) on Saturday evening at the PPL Center. With the victory, the Phantoms have won three games in a row including road and home wins over Laval.

On Saturday, Samuel Ersson made his fourth straight start. He carried a shutout into the third period before Laval scored back-to-back power play goals (the PK has been one of the Phantoms' biggest weaknesses this season) to tie the game at 2-2. Ninety-eight seconds later, however, the Phantoms retook the lead to stay. Ersson stopped 31 of 33 shots overall. Cayden Primeau (22 saves on 25 shots) took the loss for Laval.

Cam York scored an overtime goal to win the game in Laval last weekend and struck again (this time regulation) for the game-winner at home on Saturday. York now has three goals and a team-leading nine points on the young season. Earlier, Ronnie Attard (3rd) and Elliot Desnoyers (4th, shorthanded 2-on-1 goal) built a 2-0 lead for the Phantoms.

On the game-winning goal by York, Cooper Marody (three-point weekend) skated up ice on a 2-on-1 with Cal O'Reilly. An initial shot was stopped but York claimed a rebound in the left circle and fired it home to put Lehigh ahead, 3-2.

The Phantoms used the same lineup and line combinations on Saturday as they featured on Friday.
