BREAKING - 3:20 pm EST - Voracek Done?

Per Aaron Portzline of the Athletic and multiple undisclosed sources around the organization, the career of Jakub Voracek is appearing to move closer and closer to the end of its days.

This is an extremely unfortunate and sad topic for myself to talk about as he’s one of the few players I’ve seen most of my time with living between Philadelphia and Columbus as a teenager and young adult. He is an impact playmaker, bettering the locker room and players on the ice from Claude Giroux to Patrik Laine, and everyone else down and around the rosters he played with.

He has a family and is looking at now making that a priority for himself.

If this truly is the end, he had 1,058 games played with 806 career points to his name between the Flyers and Blue Jackets. One of the most impactful Czechia born players, hopeful the country and clubs honor him how they see fit for #93.

G 23 Preview v Red Wings:

We are Back in Black!

After an evening in Winnipeg, the Blue Jackets return home to battle the Red Wings for the second time this season.

Their first clash of the season was on November 19th, during their seven game home stand that resulted in a 6-1 domination by the Red and White.

Check the game notes by my archive on Game 17.

Detroit is a much stronger team than last season, and their record proves it. This a battle now between number 9 and 16 in the east.

The Wings are coming off a 4-1 loss last night against the Vegas Golden Knights; Columbus had the day off.

In regards to the lineup, no news on the Columbus front with everyone remaining the same. For Detroit, the Ohio native Alex Nedeljkovic gets the call and Robert Hagg is on the bench. This is their first game against each other since the Tyler Bertuzzi injury, and first time with Laine in this season. This will cause some different offensive and defensive matchups.

Players to Watch

Detroit — Mortiz Seider — the Calder Trophy winner is continuing to have a strong sophomore season, with 11 points in 23 games this season. As a defenseman that was a shock in his draft, he has the potential and system to match Detroit lure in the history of the franchise.

Columbus — Jack Roslovic — only one point in November, and only one point against the team that drafted and traded him to his hometown team, the second line center is not producing to standard and needs to get back on track immediately.

Final Score Prediction

DET - 4

CBJ - 2

Other News

The NHL has announced the rescheduling of the Blue Jackets and Predators game to Tuesday, January 17, 2023. The game was originally scheduled to occur on Saturday, November 26, 2022. The game was postponed due to a main water break inside Bridgestone Arena on the main floor.

This now means the Blue Jackets’ original back to back will now be with the Rangers and Predators instead of the Islanders and Preds. Additionally, the Jackets now have 16 games in the first month of the 2023 calendar year.
