The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled winger Kirill Marchenko from the AHL. With the Cleveland Monsters, the second rounder has 19 points in 16 games. The 22 year old Russian was my dark horse to make the team out of camp, but is here now in much needed offensive role.
Recap v DET:
An early evening matchup and scoring from the visitors led to a Detroit Red Wings win over the Columbus Blue Jackets, and officially win the season series between them.
The final score of the game is 4-2.
Detroit opened the scoring with 3 consecutive goals.
Midway through the first period, winger Auston Czarnik opened the game scoring with his 2nd as a Detroit Red Wing; Jonathan Berggren and Oli Maatta had the assists.
Late in the first, Dominik Kubalik’s power play goal is his 10th of the season; Filip Hronek and David Perron got the apples.
Midway through the second, Lucas Raymond’s power play goal was credited for his 7th of his sophomore season; Hronek and Perron had the helpers again.
The Columbus scoring began with Marcus Bjork’s power play goal for the second of his young NHL career. Captain Boone Jenner and player to watch Jack Roslovic got the helpers on the first Columbus goal.
Minutes into the third, Michigan alumni Kent Johnson closed the gap with his 6th of the season; Johnny Gaudreau and Jenner had the helpers.
This concluded the Columbus scoring.
The final Detroit goal came from Michigan alumni Andrew Copp. His snapshot was 3rd as a Red Wing with the assists coming from Maatta and Oscar Sundqvist.
At the last minute, Ville Husso was given the start, and 32 saves on 34 shots for a 0.941 save percentage.
Mortiz Seider was my Detroit Red Wings’ player to watch. Being second in team ice time at 22:47, the Calder winner had 2 shots with a hit, block, and giveaway.
Jack Roslovic was my Columbus player to watch due to his benching and slow start. He now has 2 consecutive games with a point after having a secondary assist on the Bjork power play goal. In 16:49TOI, the Columbus native had a minor penalty and one single shot on net.
Joonas Korpisalo played in back to back games, both in the month of December. Korpi allowed 4 goals on 35 shots for a 0.886 save percentage.
CBJ THREE STARS OF THE GAME
