She might have been the ugliest girl at the dance but....

We scored...twice!

That was one of the hardest games I have had to watch in my entire life and I probably wouldn't have finished it if I didn't have to write this blog.

Let's be honest CBJ fans, we should have lost that game and it probably shouldn't have been close. Norrena was shakey at best and the defensemen saved his bacon several times in the crease. He might have only given up 1 goal but they should put some of the saves he recorded under the defensemen stats.

Some of those saves would go to Ron Hainsey who played well last night. The 1 game in timeout must have inspired Hainsey to put forth the effort and he made smart plays also. He got the assist on the go ahead goal (Ron, I hope this lets you know that good things happen when you put a puck on net instead of 3 feet over it. Just trying to help), he blocked 2 shots and swept a puck away that was on the goal line to save the Jackets from starting a complete meltdown.

After much therapy, soul searching and 3 shots of Jack Daniels I am ready to say something that I never thought I would say! (Hard swallow) Nikolai Zherdev is our (whimper) best player. Right now! As Jackets fans we know that he is only 3 toe drags away from being the selfish and lazy player of last year but after 34 games this isn't an accident. He has came to play this year. Keep it up Nik and it will become easier to say.

The penalties we had last night were ugly. Tollefsen get the dunce cap for this game. 3 penalties and 1 he got before he could skate from the box to the bench. Vyborny didn't look ready to play and didn't play very well until the 3rd where he picked it up a little. He wasn't out that long but for a guy that never misses a game, maybe a little rust needed to get knocked off. Kris Russell, I love your play, your fast as the wind and the way you go to the net, someday you will put it in that ocean. The penalty you took was just a rookie penalty on the interference. In Juniors, you might have got away with it when the ref that has one good eye and he is your uncle but in the NHL that was obvious.

Boys, you got the 2 points that you needed so bad but if you don't start playing better with better execution, you will hear again, "With the 7th overall pick in the 2008 NHL Draft the Blue Jackets select..."

Get it together and please Peca, Modin and Malhotra, GET HEALTHY!

Fire the Cannon!
