Yesterday at practice, Kaiden Guhle was nowhere to be seen and David Savard skated alongside Arber Xhekaj, while Edmundson was flanked by Kovacevic, and Harris and Barron were paired up. There’s yet to be an update on Guhle’s health but I fully expect him to miss some time. If Savard is ready to return, he’ll step into the line-up, but if it’s not the case Chris Wideman should be back.
Up front, there were no changes, spares Pezzetta and Richard took turns on the 3rd and 4th line, but to be honest, I’d much rather see Richard and his speed on the 4th line than Joel Armia who’s been struggling for ages now. No disrespect to Jake Evans, but maybe, just maybe Drouin would be able to connect well with Richard and create some much-needed offense from the 4th line. Speaking of Drouin, this afternoon will be his last chance to avoid a goalless year, hopefully, he finds the back of the net.
The puck is set to drop at 4:00 PM and I expect Jake Allen to get the start, since Montembeault was on duty last game. The Habs will have their biggest fans in attendance tonight as it’s the Canadiens’ annual mom’s trip. Hopefully, this will give the players some much needed energy and motivation because their performance in the last couple of games has been abysmal.
