Firstly, great song by country artist Chase Rice of his album titled Ignite the Night from 2014.

Second, Carolina can do a lot of things, it can be two states, have multiple beaches, have multiple sports franchises, and can be a great place to live with amazing people.

The Carolina Hurricanes can also win the Stanley Cup this season with this roster, and could.

This is the two clubs second meeting of the regular seasons of three, with the final time being on Jan. 12. In the first matchup, it was a 4-1 Carolina win. This was the Laine injury, the first one. He also had the lone goal. Seth Jarvis, Brady Skeji, Martin Necas, and Andrei Svechinkov had the Hurricanes’ goals.

In 2023, Carolina is now a stronger team, having the debuting Max Paccioretty for them after joining them via trade for future considerations from Vegas; then got hurt in an offseason training exercise. They’re currently on a two game regulation losing streak, the first time not having points in games since American Thanksgiving. They went all of December with either wins or overtime losses.

Columbus has only defeated teams in the Western Conference since Thanksgiving, only defeating the Kings, Flames, Blackhawks, and Jets. No wins yet in 2023.

Columbus last played in a 6-2 loss to the Capitals.

CBJ P37 — Capitol Clash

In the military appreciation night for the Columbus Blue Jackets, sponsored by Elk & Elk, the NHL took center stage where the league announced the All Stars during the game action on ESPN, in a 6-2 Washington victory over Columbus at Nationwide Arena.

All Star Johnny Gaudreau opened the scoring with his 11th of the year and the first of the 2023 calendar year; Emil Bemstrom had the helper.

TJ Oshie evened the in his second game back from injury with his 6th of the season; defenders Nic Jensen and Dimitry Orlov had the helpers. Nicolas Aube-Kuebel got his first goal as a Cap to get them their first lead of the game.

Gavin Bayreuther evened the scoring, and ended the Columbus offense for the night with his 1st of the calendar, and first defenseman to score this year; Adam Boqvist and Bemstrom had the final Columbus apples.

Washington popped off with 4 unanswered goals to end the game:

Martin Fehervary got the game winning goal for his third; Dylan Strome and Alex Alexeyev had the assists.

Garnet Hathaway’s 5th was supported by Anthony Mantha and Aleksi Protas.

Oshie’s second of the game and seventh of the season came off the power play; Strome and Evgney Kuznetsov had the assists.

Alexander Ovechkin continued his goal chase with his 809th career goal, his 29th of the season. Strome and Kuzy had the helpers again.

Elvis had 31 saves on 37 shots for a 0.838 save percentage; Darcy Kuemper had 25 saves on 27 shots for a 0.927 save percentage.

CBJ THREE STARS OF THE GAME

1. Johnny Gaudreau — goal (11)

2. Gavin Bayreuther — goal (1)

Tonight, against Carolina, Carson Meyer sits for Eric Robinson, and Marcus Bjork is a healthy scratch for the second straight game. Joonas Korpisalo gets in between the pipes.
