My Role of Christmas Referee

I want to wish everyone Happy Holidays and tell you what a bizarre house full of hockey fans I have right now. And they're all family! For the past few days it's been an all out battle for the clicker to see who could control the Center Ice package.

My brother, Pete and his family are here from Montreal. When the Blue, Blanc et Rouge (aka Les Canadiens) are on, the rest of us are swimming against the current. When he gets the remote, the Montreal Clements have us outnumbered and they're from Land of The Giants. Pete is 6'3", 250. My oldest nephew Kris(20) is over 6'3 and weighs 250. Mikael is 14 and is already 6'4". Karin is 18 and just under 6 feet. What a battle!

Then there's my Mom. She is 89 but don't let her age fool you. She is here from Ottawa, as is my sister Barby. If the Senators are on at the same time as the Habs...look out! Factor in my son Chase's passion for watching the Flyers and we have a family war on our hands.

I'm the REF. Hooking, holding and slashing ARE allowed. No scratching, eye gouging or spearing. I'm also the chief medic. I give great first aid. Most of the time I just break out the eggnog and everybody goes into mellow-mode.

It's the best time of year and I love it. Here's to a wonderful 2008 everybody!
