The New Jersey Devils got revenge from an earlier overtime loss this season to the Seattle Kraken by beating them 3-1 at the Prudential Center last night. Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton scored two power play goals and John Marino added an empty net goal to seal the victory. Ondrej Palat had two assists and Mackenzie Blackwood made 34 saves.
Thoughts & Musings
1. It was a great overall team effort. The BMW line brought the energy and were effective throughout the game. If Lindy Ruff can roll four lines, Devils have a good chance of winning. The Devils put on a solid effort for sixty minutes.
2. Devils are 10-1-1 in their last 12 games while winning five straight home games. They also improve against Pacific Division teams with a 13-0-1 record.
3. The Devils blueline did all the goal scoring. And Dougie Hamilton’s second period power play goal made him the first defenseman to record 50 points since Brian Rafalski during the 2006-07 season.
4. Mackenzie Blackwood played the first time in two weeks. He look rejuvenated and was sharp. The Devils needed solid goaltending and he was one of the big difference makers of the game.
5. New Jersey is now four points behind the Carolina Hurricanes.
