This is an interesting series and arguably could be the Conference Final. These are the two best teams in the West,,,
The Oilers offense and power play are as good as any we have seen since the Oilers of the 80’s. Vegas handled a hot Winnipeg team and made them look amateur.
These are two of the fastest playing teams in the NHL…Only NJ can skate with these guys.
But really what this will come down to is goalies. Here is my whacky prediction…Whoever starts this series in goal will be different for BOTH teams by the time this series wraps. Campbell is the better pressure goalie on Edmonton and the Kings scored too many easy goals in round one. Thompson or Quick will be ready soon as well. And to stop the Oilers you will need them back.
The Devils can shut teams down. They showed that in the series. The problem was that ONLY Hughes is scoring for NJ. At some point Bratt and Meier need to be factors or Carolina will make quick work of NJ. The Canes injuries up front are insane, but their defense is so good I believe the Devils could have fits. I’m betting the Devils get the contribution needed from elsewhere. If NJ’s offense plays like it did against the Rangers The Canes will take it…
