Jonathan Bernier is in goal for Canada, Jhonas Enroth for Sweden.

First period notes:

* First big hit of the game came at about 1:10 as Joakim Andersson finished his check against Luke Schenn.

* Fast-paced, physical play early on in the game.

* The first great scoring chance came as Oscar Moller beat his man to the outside and went in on Bernier. The puck rolled off his stick and Canada countered. Going the other way, Patrik Berglund took down Boychuk for the game's first penalty.

* Canada generated little on the man advantage.

* Enroth makes a nice stop on Turris off a Giroux feed at 7:08.

* Colton Gillies with big hits on Patrik Lundh and Mario Kempe on the same shift.

* At 9:26, Canada nearly scores. Enroth dives across the crease as the puck inches toward the goal line off a cross crease pass. Steven Stamkos couldn't quite get his stick on the puck to put it in.

* On the next shift, a near miss for Mikael Backlund.

* Brandon Sutter is struggling on faceoffs. He lost another one cleanly.

* Giroux goes in alone on Enroth as Marchand feeds him up the middle. The puck rolled off Giroux's stick.

* Great block by Victor Hedman on Boychuk shot at one end, Karl Alzner stands up Robin Figren at the other end.

* Sweden on it first powerplay after a P.K. Subban tripping minor late in the first period. Bernier, moving to his right, makes an excellent stop on a Moller one-timer.

* It's 1-0 in favor of Canada. Giroux makes a nice defensive play in front of the Canadian net, and gets the puck to Marchand. Marchand goes around Johan Motin, moves to his backhand and tucks the puck into the case as Motin slides into Enroth.

* Enroth with a great stop in Stamkos in the final seconds of the period.

Second period notes:

* Holzapfel off for hooking on Lundh at 3:25. Giroux with a shorthanded scoring chance from the high slot. Enroth swallows it up. At the other end, Figren with a slapshot from the right circle. Bernier comes out to cut down the angle and makes it a routine save.

* Patrik Lundh with the only penalty out of a scrum. Shorthanded, Figren makes a nice move around Doughty, and drops to the trailer. Bernier makes the save.

* Legein with a boarding penalty at 9:58. He bumped Motin several feet from the boards. On the ensuing powerplay, Bernier was hit in the mask with a shot in the waning seconds.

* Enroth denies Giroux's attempted wraparound.

* I don't think Magnus Svensson-Paajarvi has had a shift yet-- at least not that I've seen.

* Steven Stamkos off for tripping at 17:31. Tobias Forsberg was buzzing around the net, but Patrik Berglund was unable to get it to him.

* Period over. Sweden had the better of the play, but couldn't finish.

****

3rd period notes:

* It's 2-0 Canada at 2:17. A backhanded pass from behind the net by Halischuk out in front to Matthias, who stuck with it and forced the puck over the line.

* Sutter is in the box. Canada nearly has a shorthanded 2-on-0 rush but the pass to Turris goes awry. It proves costly.

* It's 2-1 now-- the first goal Canada has allowed in the tourney. Eric Moe threads a shot through a Thomas Larsson screen for a powerplay goal. Bernier never saw the puck. Figren and Andersson draw the assists.

* Figren crashes the net looking for the equalizer.

* Tie game, 2-2. A wild shot misses the net and comes back out in front. Bernier makes the save. Lagerstrom puts it in off Bernier's skate.

* Mario Kempe is buzzing around the offensive zone. Sweden goes back to the powerplay.

* It's now 3-2 Sweden. Moller is Johnny on the spot in front of the net on the powerplay. Moe with the assist on the Swedes' third goal in less than four minutes.

* From in close, John Tavares barely missed a chance to tie the game.

* At one end of the ice, Bernier misplays the puck behind the net, leading to near disaster for Canada. At the other end, Johan Motin stands up Turris.

* Big opportunity for Canada, as the Swedes are called for too many men on the ice with 4:51 left in regulation. It's now a 5-3 on a weak roughing penalty on Motin.

* The game is tied again, 3-3. Claude Giroux taps in a John Tavares rebound.

* Sweden pulls the upset and wins 4-3!!! A turnover by Brad Marchand in the last 13 seconds of regulation leads directly to a goal by Tobias Forsberg.
