Nate Danielson has signed his ELC just weeks after being selected 9th overall. If you watched the Development Training Camp tournament, Danielson definitely stood out. The author of the above piece, Josh Erickson, believes (as do others) there really aren’t “holes” in Danielson’s game as a center. The conversation is about his ability to score.

Yzerman, Draper and co used the terms like “high hockey IQ”, but it was a lot more telling just to see him jump on the ice. Solid skating, a major decision looms. Send him back to jr or keep him at the NHL level. The major junior route has the disadvantage built in for picks that may be more developed than what they can find at those levels, but not quite ready for NHL experience. In terms of competition, I prefer the SHL for first year players. They can play up against older veterans or stay in their age group if that is more appropriate.

Regardless, I’m sure he has his marching orders from the summer. A lot of strength training and put on “x” amount of pounds. It will be interesting to see what 2 months of training through the summer with guidance/advice from the team will do for Danielson. This year’s prospect tournament could be a fun watch.
