We are officially at that point in the summer where there is little to no news coming out and you have to start looking for other ways to get your hockey fix. For myself and my cohost on the WCBPodcast, one way we are passing the time is by drafting starting lineups based on different topics. We have done all-time Hawks, 2003 vs. 2015 draft classes, and so on. This past week's latest draft was a decade draft, with one Hawks player from each decade. I figured I would share our teams and see who you guys think drafted a better team, and then let you guys make your own teams in the comments. We did set up a few rules to make it a little bit more challenging:
Selected 1 Player Per Decade (1960, 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000, 2010)
2. Must Pick 1 Center, 2 Wingers, 2 Defensemen, and 1 goalie.
3. Must have played at least 150 games in the decade.
4. A player can only be selected once (players who played multiple decades can only be drafted in one decade).
As you are going to see from the teams we drafted following these rules, a lot of big names were left on the board, but man, was it tough making the call on certain players. Here are the teams we drafted:
Team A
Center
Dennis Savard ‘80
Wingers
Artemi Panarin ‘10
Martin Havlat ’00
Defense
Keith Magnuson ‘70
Chris Chelios ’90
Goalie
