Yesterday, the Canadiens announced that the presale of the red vs. white game at the Bell Centre was starting and that fans could go get a special code in participating IGAs to gain access to the presale for the event that will take place on September 24th. Every year, the Canadiens hold that scrimmage game during training camp and it’s a wonderful event especially for the kids. Tickets start at $10 and the most expensive ones right by the ice are $15. It’s a great opportunity for kids to get right by the action and for those sitting behind the nets, they realize just how hard NHLers shots are. Just like last year, the price also includes a free snack (a bag of chips) and beverage (non-alcoholic).
This will also be the fans’ first opportunity to see the new Habs; Alex Newhook who was acquired from the Colorado Avalanche right before the draft and of course, 3rd overall pick David Reinbacher. Chances are he’ll spend the season in Europe but there’s little doubt in my mind that he’ll still be around for that event. The Canadiens will want to give him a taste of the Bell Center and I’m also pretty sure he’ll take part in exhibition games as well before heading back to Switzerland.
The day after the red vs. white scrimmage, the Canadiens will be starting their preseason schedule. This time around, the Habs will have six exhibition games, three of which will be against the Maple Leafs. On September 25th, the Devils will be the visitors at the Bell Center, followed by the Senators on September 27th, the Leafs on September 29th and 30th. The Canadiens will then wrap up the preseason with two away games on October 2nd in Toronto and October 7th in Ottawa.
The season will officially kick off for the Canadiens on October 11th when they’ll take on the Leafs in Toronto before heading to Montreal for their home opener against the Blackhawks on October 14th, Saturday night hockey in Montreal against generational player Connor Bedard, is there any better way to start a season?
