August 26th, 2023

Now I am getting anxious, or perhaps a little perturbed at the organization. We all know what I have been through in the last six weeks and to say it is getting better would be a statement to my readers that all is well. It simply is not.

To the faithful members who exchange ideas, meaningful insight, downright irrelevant nonsense to rile up conversation, please know that I do appreciate you.

If you got to know me, I am just like you under normal circumstances. My friends and I shock jock each other with inappropriate stuff that should never be documented. I have an intelligent, twisted sense of humor that I see is prevalent through the banter that exudes out of your fingertips. I am a man (or person), just like you.... Bottom line is that we all care about our team. We care about our city. We want a championship, and the peculiar way that the Sabres are going about it gives us fuel to be speculative.

Lyubushkin to the Ducks for a 4th round pick in 2025….

Now that really stamped the offseason with flair. Wooooo!

As the summer winds down and the leaves start turning colors, we are still left wondering. Are our pivotal defensemen going to get contracts? Are we going to reshape the roster a little more with the abundance of assets that we have?

Everyone is loading up and we better have the roster to compete. I have faith in our top forwards and our franchise blueliners, but Adams, Granato, and Pegula better not be comfortable..

There better be some lower body clenching to say the least. Its obvious we need some kind of reassurance. The silence is loud and clear.

Now that we have that out of the way because nothing of substance has been bestowed upon us, let’s do the bored bloggers thing. I don’t share a podcast with the ladies of the Leafs, so I am going to throw in the best players who wore our numbers and put on our classic crest. Yes, it has been done too many times. I will infuse it along the way five digits at a clip. Feel free to chime in with a different perspective. I will give my top pick and then the runner up. An honorable mention will be made as well.

#1
Top Dog - Roger Crozier (1971-1976)
Runner Up - Don Edwards (1978-1992)
Honorable Mention - John Blue (1996) He Needed the Money..

#2
Top Dog Period – Tim Horton
Honorable Mention – Damn good coffee

#3
Top Dog – Richie Dunn (1980-1987)
Runner Up - James Patrick (1999-2004)
Honorable Mention – Michael Funk (2007-2008) On our bodies or in our musical soul, we all have it.

#4
Top Dog – Jerry Korab (1974-1985)
Runner Up – Rhett Warrener (1999-2003)
Honorable Mention – Mike Wilson (1997-1999) With infused energy from my seats, on a few occasions I offered to drive him and his purse to Rochester myself.

#5
Top Dog – Mike Ramsey (1981-1993)
Runner Up – Jason Woolley (1998-2003)
Honorable Mention – Toni Lydman (2006-2010) No jokes here. Easily could have been the runner up. Damn good player and he liked his heavy metal.

I am looking forward to see how the next month will shake out. My impatience comes with optimism but I am wondering what the heck is going on. As fans we should be vocal. We deserve to have our franchise give us their all. We are a knowledgeable fan base and love our sport. Once again I can’t wait for the season.

A few side notes –

Classy act to have a tribute event at KeyBank Center this Sunday to remember RJ. Things have gotten much better over the last few years in regards to fan participation and doing the right thing.

Having to pay extra for printed tickets when you buy in for the year package is disheartening. It should be just part of the deal. Games have been cherished with a stub throughout history. Not everybody embraces the digital world.

Until next time thanks –
