The preseason continues to roll on with the Columbus Blue Jackets hosting the Buffalo Sabres in their back half of the home and home split. Puckdrop is at 7pm from the Nationwide Arena.

Columbus is coming off a home win against St. Louis. The Blue Jackets have won both their preseason home games, and all three road games.

CBJ P5 Results - Score of 5

The Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the St. Louis Blues by the final score of 5-3.

Columbus began the game strong with four unanswered goals, three in the first period.

Period I

Our captain Boone Jenner fired the first cannon shot for his first of the preseason from Alexandre Texier. (1-0)

Late in the first period, Kirill Marchenko extended the lead with his first of the preseason from Patrik Laine and Damon Severson.

Justin Danforth closed the first period scoring with his second of the preseason and the lone assist came from Dmitri Vokornov.

Period II

Cole Sillinger opened the second period scoring with his first of the preseason; the two newest defenders in Severson and Ivan Provorov had the helpers.

Jakub Vrana broke the shutout hopes with his second of the preseason from Kevin Hayes and Scott Perunovich.

Sammy Blias cut the lead in half with his first of the preseason. The powerplay goal was assisted by Kasperi Kapanen and Vrana.

Period III

Vrana concluded the Blues’ scoring with his second of the night and third of the preseason with the Blue Notes’ second powerplay goal of the contest. The debuting Torey Krug and Kasperi Kapanen had the assists.

Johnny Gaudreau ensured the victory with the empty net goal as his first of the preseason from Provorov.

Joel Hoefer had 34 saves on 38 shots for an 0.895 save percentage.

Jet Greaves had 36 saves on 39 shots for a 0.923 save percentage.

Torey Krug was my player to watch for the Blues, having an assist and -3 rating in 24:29TOI.

Dmitry Voronkov was my Blue Jackets’ player to watch, having an assist and +2 rating in 13:10TOI.
