The Columbus Blue Jackets dropped the Frozen Frenzy game to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim by the final score of 3-2 in overtime. This extends the Jackets’ point streak to three games in a row for the first time this season.

Period I

Emil Bemstrom opened the scoring on the powerplay for his first of the season late in the period. Ivan Provorov and Adam Fantili had the helpers.

Period II

Ryan Strome evened the game with his first of the season late in the second. Rookie Pavel Mintyukov and Mason McTavish had the assists.

Period III

Fantilli got the early go ahead goal for the second of his young career. Jack Roslovic and Jake Bean had the final apples.

Brett Leason evened the game for his first of the year from newcomer Ross Johnston.

Overtime

Frank Vatrano continues his hot start of the season with his 5th of the year from Benoit-Olivier Groulx.

Trevor Zegras was my Ducks player to watch having 2 block shots and a 50/50 success rate in the faceoff dot in 12:26TOI.

Lukas Dostal stopped 35 of 37 shots faced for a 0.946 save percentage.

David Jiricek had 2 shots on goal with a +1 rating 8:03TOI. Too much sheltering by Vincent and company to limit a top prospect. Better off to play Boqvist or Peeke. Jiricek needs the top minutes and not to be sitting. He was a plus and has been a contributing factor to the young club this season.

Elvis Merzlikins stopped 24 of 27 shots for a 0.889 save percentage. He has been a little slow to the start of the season, but it’s been better than last.

CBJ THREE STARS OF THE GAME

1. Adam Fantilli — goal (2), assist (2)
