Preview: Flyers vs. Wild

The Philadelphia Flyers (3-2-1) will host the Minnesota Wild (3-2-1) at the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday evening. Game time is 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and Hulu. The radio broadcast is on 93.3 WMMR with Tim Saunders and Todd Fedoruk on the call, and an online simulcast on Flyers Radio 24/7.

The Flyers enter this game coming off a 3-2 road loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday. The Flyers were unable to protect a 2-1 lead in the third period and absorbed a regulation loss after yielding a goal in the final half-minute of regulation. Noah Cates (1st goal of the season) and Cam Atkinson (4th) scored for the Flyers. Carter Hart made 25 saves.

The Flyers have made three roster moves over the last day. Defenseman Emil Andrae has been assigned to the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms. With Rasmus Ristolainen and Marc Staal out with injuries, the team has recalled speedy puck-moving defenseman Victor Mete (274 career NHL games) and AHL veteran Louie Belpedio from the Phantoms.

Tortorella said before Thursday's morning skate that he's staying with the same forward lineup and line combinations yet again. Morgan Frost will be a healthy scratch for the fifth straight game because "there's not a spot in the top nine" for Frost at the present time, according to the coach.

The Wild have had no problem scoring goals so far this season but they've been allowing chances and goals against at an alarming rate so far. Even in an opening night shutot win over Florida, Minnesota yielded 41 shots on goal. In four of the last five games, the Wild have scored at least four goals but also yielded at least four goals.

Forward Matthew Boldy, who punished the Flyers in last year's season series is expected to miss several weeks with an upper-body injury in the Oct. 14 game. Veteran defensemen Alex Goligoski and Jared Spurgeon (LTIR) and Alex Goligoski are on injured reserve.
