Quick Hits: November 9, 2023
1) As part of the efforts of the Flyers' communications team to expand our coverage of the farm system, we are now doing prospect-related content on a weekly basis. One week, Brian Smith and I are doing a "Prospect Pipeline" podcast on the Flyers Broadcast Network. The next, I'm doing "Farm Report" feature on PhiladelphiaFlyers.com. Then it's back to "Prospect Pipeline" on an alternating basis, and so forth. To tune in to this week's podcast,

2) The Lehigh Valley Phantoms (4-5-2) played a morning game in Springfield on Wednesday, dropping a 4-2 decision to the Thunderbirds. Two goals by Springfield's Adam Gaudette (10th and 11th of the season) proved to be the difference. Lehigh Valley never led in the game but managed to get the match to the first intermission tied at 1-1 and the second intermission tied at 2-2.
Wade Allison scored in his first goal of the AHL season late in the first period. Cooper Marody (3rd) tallied a power play goal in the latter stages of the second period. In the third period, Gaudette's second goal of the game and a Hugh McGing empty-netter sealed the win for Springfield. Mackenzie MacEachern also scored for Springfield, breaking a 1-1 deadlock in the middle stanza.
Allison, Emil Andrae (who assisted on the Marody goal), and Ronnie Attard made their respective returns to the Phantoms' lineup from injury or illness-related absences last week. Parker Gahagen stopped 28 of 31 shots in a losing cause.
3) Coming off a humiliating 2-1 loss (and 0-for-5 power play) on Tuesday to a San Jose Sharks team that entered the game with an 0-10-1 record, a staggering minus-43 goal differential and a 67 percent penalty kill, the Flyers will hold practice on Thursday in Anaheim. On Friday, the Flyers will play the Ducks.
4) Today, the Flyers will have a big announcement regarding the upcoming Hall of Fame weekend game against the Bruins Alumni on Friday, January 26. There are additions the already released names of confirmed participants.
