Summary:
While the hope amongst the comments was 5 or 6 of 8 points, Detroit will settle for 4. An important win as Toronto seems to be rising up in the standings and the Devils are pushing for that final spot.
Early on in the game, Lyon made some important saves. It became a “gain one, give one” trade off as Seattle had a better start in terms of shots and energy. Detroit looked sluggish. Heading back to the Pizza Palace with 4 of 8 certainly beats the alternatives that were on the table before today’s match.
Kane continues to impress as he found his 800th career assist, Larkin is starting to get more positive coverage from broadcasters and Raymond seems to be finding another step to his game. All positive.
Detroit is off until Thursday when the Avs come to town. As much as the rivalry has cooled off, the hope of one day seeing the two in a SCF lingers. It felt like those post season clashes were the final series growing up and fans would crawl out of the woodwork for that one. Press boxes with Yzerman in one and Sakic in the other. Good memories.
I’m hesitant to call the road trip a “win” for the team, but it definitely ended on a positive note. Reimer stepped up when called on and Lyon seemed to have found ways to get to rebounds enough times to help his team get the win.
Let me know your thoughts. Is Kane’s performance a highlight for you? Has Raymond begun the next step forward? With just 10 days left in the month the team has some work to do. It’s a race to the deadline.
Detroit First Period goals:
Seider scores at 13:30 after Kane sent a pass to Debrincat who missed on the shot, #88 regained the puck and sent it to Seider for the opening tally.

Detroit Red Wings Second Period goals:
At 7:18 Raymond was able to restore the one goal lead. The pending RFA got himself into the net front area, took a pass from Compher and slammed it in far side.
Seattle tied it back up, but at 15:58 Sprong gave a salute to his old mates. Set loose on a 2 on 1 with Fischer, a cross crease pass found its way on and off of the blade of Sprong in a hurry. 3-2
Shots: 27-21 SEA
Score: 3-2 DET
Third Period Detroit goals
No third period Detroit goals
Shots: 40-32 SEA
Score: 3-3
Overtime:
Ben Chiarot got to play the part of the overtime hero. After killing off a carryover penalty the teams were 4 per side. Raymond skated the puck into the O zone and moved to the middle sending a drop pass to Larkin. The Captain saw Chiarot coming down the middle and teed up a straight snap shot for the defenseman. 4-3
Shots: 41-32 SEA
Score: 4-3 DET
