Montreal and Buffalo have tangled up once so far this season and the Sabres annihilated the Canadiens by a score of 6-1, the sole black mark in between wins against Dallas in New York in the first week of January for the Habs. Tonight, Martin St-Louis’ men will be hoping to avenge that cringeworthy loss they suffered in their own house a month and a half ago.

Both teams have played 55 games so far this season and they’ve both got 52 points. The Sabres are ahead in the standings however because they’ve won more games. Habs fans’ will be once again keeping tabs on Suzuki and Slafkovsky’s points streak. The former is up to 10 games now while the latter stands at eight. Suzuki’s the longest streak in the league (tied with Tampa Bay’s Brandon Hagel) with Slafkovsky’s tied in second place with Washington’s Alexander Ovechkin.

The Canadiens will be training at 10:30 this morning with media opportunities afterward. We should know then who will be in the net and if there will be any other changes to the line-up. It’s worth mentioning Jordan Harris was wearing a normal jersey at last practice and should therefore be ready to return, but would it make sense to scratch Xhekaj after he scored in the last game? In any case, would it be smart to use Harris so soon after a concussion? Unless of course, the coach decides to give Jayden Struble a day off? There are plenty of possibilities, including some time off for Kaiden Guhle, after all, he’s been leaving the ice with various ailments in the last few games…
