Game 79 Preview: Flyers @ Canadiens

The Philadelphia Flyers (36-31-11) are in Quebec on Tuesday to play the Montreal Canadiens (29-36-12). Game time at Bell Centre is 7:00 p.m. EDT.

The Flyers, winless in their last seven games (0-5-2), have lost control of their own destiny in the Eastern Conference playoff race. Now, in addition to winning their own games, they need significant help on the out-of-town scoreboard as well.

Although the Flyers lost a 4-1 home decision to the Florida Panthers on March 24 and a 6-5 overtime road verdict to the New York Rangers on March 26, it has been the last five games that have brought Philly's season to its knees: 4-1 road loss in Montreal on March 28, 5-1 home loss to Chicago on March 30, 4-3 home overtime loss to the Islanders on April 1, 4-2 road loss in Buffalo on April 5 and 6-2 road loss in Columbus the next night.

The game in Columbus, against a Blue Jackets team that was missing 10 players from the lineup and starting their third-string goaltender in net, was atrocious by any measure. The Flyers were outplayed for two-plus periods and tied an unwanted NHL record by yielding six goals to opposing defensemen. Meanwhile, the Flyers recent large-scale problems in net continued both in Buffalo on Friday (with Ivan Fedotov in goal) and Columbus (Samuel Ersson in goal) on Saturday.

The Flyers held practice on Monday at the FTC in Voorhees before departing for Montreal. Sean Couturier, who missed the games in Buffalo and Columbus with an upper-body injury sustained in last Monday's game against the Islanders, participated in a no-contact jersey. The Flyers captain is considered day-to-day.

The Flyer will hold an 11:30 a.m. EDT morning skate at Bell Centre on Tuesday. Projected lineups below are based off Monday practices, and will be updated, if necessary, prior to gametime.
