The Columbus Blue Jackets fail to earn a single point on their final road trip of the season, falling 6-4 in the Bachelorette Capitol of the United States, Nashville. The Nashville Predators’ first round opponent is in the hands of the Vegas Golden Knights as they have fewer games in hand.

Period I

James Malatesta opened the scoring minutes into the game with his first career NHL goal. The fifth rounder of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft scored his first goal in his 10th career game. His goal was assisted by just Justin Danforth.

Seconds later, the home team evened the game. Tommy Novak got his 17th of the season from Luke Evangelista and Roman Josi.

Josi got the go-ahead powerplay goal for his 22nd tally of the campaign from Jackets’ lefend Gustav Nyquist and my player to watch Ryan O’Reilly.

Novak got his second of the game and 18th of the year. Anthony Beauvillier and Ryan McDonagh got the assists.

Period II

Cody Glass’ sixth was supported by Alexandre Carrier and Mark Jankowski.

Alexandre Texier got his 12th goal of the season in his 200th career NHL game. His 34th career goal was assisted by only Damon Severson.

Filip Forsberg recorded his 47th goal of the season of the power play. Josi and Nyquist continue their productive nights with more apples.

Preds’ captain Josi closed the scoring with his second of the game, 23rd of the season, and fourth point of the night. Evangelista and Novak got the helpers.

Period III

Trey Fix-Wolansky got his first goal of the season with the assists to Danforth and Erik Gudbranson, my Blue Jackets’ player to watch.

TFW got his first career NHL multi-goal game with 30 seconds left. His fourth career goal was assisted by Danforth and Malatesta. Malatesta got his first career multi-point game.

Players to Watch

Ryan O’Reilly had his 42nd assist of the season to set up Josi on the powerplay.

Erik Gudbrasnon recorded his 18th assist of the season. His assist total this year has eclipsed any previous year’s point totals.

Goalies

Jusse Saros had 31 saves on 35 shots for a 0.885 save percentage.

Jet Greaves had 31 saves on 37 shots for a 0.838 save percentage.
