Detroit climbs out of 4-1 deficit and win in overtime 5-4 |

Summary:
Detroit found a win when it looked early on like the team was tapping out for the season. Unfortunately, Washington also won their game as did Pittsburgh. After a flight to Montreal, the Wings now need to win the last game and need Washington to lose to make the post season. The good news is the Wings are still in the mix going into the final game of the year.
Debrincat picked a good time to get going again. Compher’s 2 goals took Detroit into the final period down 2 instead of 3. Raymond’s game tying and game winning tallies gave Detroit another 30 goal scorer on the year.
This was a night where the title of the post game article changed a few times, to be sure. 2 straight overtime wins for Detroit and a Capitals team that got hot as Detroit fell off. Everything is still fresh right now and it comes down to the wire. The excitement is palpable and the pressure is immense. Detroit can only do what they need to in terms of going out and grabbing one more win. That may not be enough, but that’s the reality.
Raymond has likely given himself a few extra dollars on next year’s deal. Let me know your thoughts. Lyon seems burned out as he carried the team many times. It was pointed out that the goalie had played more games this season in the NHL than the previous 3 combined. Hopefully he can find one more (assuming he’s in net tomorrow)
Detroit First Period goals:
After giving up two goals in the first 6:15, Compher got Detroit on the board at 8:11. Compher passed the puck to Debrincat across the crease, the cat ended up sending it right back to the centerman who (on his off wing) got the puck on his back hand and put Detroit on the board. 2-1 MTL

Detroit Red Wings Second Period goals:
The second period had a disastrous start as Detroit found themselves down 4-1. With 15;59, once again Compher puts the Wings on the board. Kane got ahold of the puck in the neutral zone, circled back and entered into the O zone. #88 put the puck on Perron’s stick on the left half wall. Perron found Compher just a few feet back from where he scored in the first period. This time a quick forehand shot. Being within 2 brings a small glimpse of hope for Detroit to try and get this to OT. Still a disappointing 2 periods. 4-2 MTL

Third Period Detroit goals
Debrincat scored his 3rd goal in 2 games and at an important time. Down 4-2, at 10:38 the Wings were now in a 1 shot game. This was a well executed faceoff play. Puck was won back to Gostisbehere, sent to Maata, and then straight to Debrincat located in the realm of “Ovi’s office”. Debrincat repositioned and snapped in his 27th of the season. 4-3 Montreal
At 18:43, Lucas Raymond scored his 30th of the year and tied the game. Gostisbehere got the puck to Perron who found Raymond on his off wing at the side of the net. After skating out #23 snapped a shot to the far side ties it up and Detroit gets at least one point. 4-4

Overtime
Lucas Raymond found his 31st goal and gave Detroit a win that looked far off at 4-1. Gostisbehere picked up the puck in the Defensive zone and sent it to Larkin. The Captain skated down the left wall with Raymond across on the right while Montreal was getting set for a 2 on 2. Larkin’s pass hit Raymond’s stick and was in the net. LCA was screaming almost as loud as Ken Daniels. The gamut of emotion was run once again and the fans are probably exhausted.
