Who was your MVP for Detroit this season?

Cap Friendly still has this year’s roster available. The team certainly had some high points and a tough finish. However, it feels like there were names you would consistently hear as making an impact on the game. Dylan Larkin had 69 points in 68 games played with a career high 33 goals. Patrick Kane was a huge boost for the team and added 47 points in 50 games played after recovering from a hip resurfacing. Alex Lyon stepped up and brought new life to the team. Seider has become a blocking machine and Raymond hit the 30 goal mark.

Personally, I rank Larkin as the team’s MVP with Lyon not too far behind. My reasoning is that Larkin’s absence seemed to derail the club in a way that there didn’t seem to be a remedy for.

In the coming weeks we’ll talk more about offseason moves, drafting (draft lotto is supposed to be around May 5th or 6th) and of course nobody’s favorite, broadcast buzz! As I’m compiling numbers and theories (along with what Arizona is doing and its impact) it felt like this season’s team deserved one last moment of contemplation. Raymond’s ascension has potentially made two sets of negotiations (his and Seider’s) a bit more complex.

So, let me know. Who stood out to you as Detroit got as close as possible to a post season appearance.

* - i want to make one last point clear. There was some chatter about the Philly vs. Washington game. I don’t really have any interest in going down that rabbit hole. One more win (or overtime loss) would have erased the scenario completely. It was still exciting to see game #82 mean something and that’s where I’d like to leave it.
