1) Calder Cup playoffs: The Lehigh Valley Phantoms will look to close out their best-of-three first round playoff series on Friday night as they host Game 2 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at the PPL Center. Game time is 7:05 p.m. EDT.
This will be the first home playoff game for the Phantoms since the 2018 Eastern Conference Final series against the Toronto Marlies. Last year, due to AHL rules governing flying distance series in the first round, all three games of the Phantoms' series against the Charlotte Checkers were played at Bojangles Coliseum.

On Wednesday at Mohican Sun Arena at Casey Plaza, the Phantoms prevailed by a 2-1 score. Adam Brooks and Rhett Gardner scored for the winning team, while defenseman Louie Belpedio collected two assists. Cal Petersen stopped 21 of 22 shots. Ville Koivunen notched the lone WBS goal. Joel Blomqvist denied 30 of 32 Lehigh Valley shots in a losing cause.
The Phantoms were 0-for-3 on the power play. They were 2-for-2 on the power play.
Lehigh Valley dressed 11 forwards and seven defensemen in the series opener. Rookie winger Samu Tuomaala, injured on April 14, is unlikely to be available in this series. The winner of the series will advance to play the AHL-leading Hershey Bears in the best-of-five second round.
