Just reported by Elliotte Friedman, the Edmonton Oilers have traded Ryan McLeod to the Buffalo Sabres. No word yet on the return but going to assume it is a draft pick. The 24 year old has scored 32 goals and 75 points in 219 games with the Edmonton Oilers. A talented and fast centre, McLeod has been a useful bottom six piece who has sometimes shown flashes of top six skill but hasn't scored consistently in the NHL.

I've kept the first paragraph the same because literally as I was writing the full trade came down.

It looks like the Oilers are getting Matthew Savoie in exchange for Ryan McLeod and Tyler Tulio. Savoie is in the first year of his ELC deal with the Sabres. Savoie was drafted 9th overall in the 2022 draft. A skilled right shot centre who put up 47 points in 23 games with the Moose Jaw Warriors this season as well as 5 points (2-3-5) in 6 games with the Rochester Americans of the AHL.

I really liked McLeod as a player but with the signing of Henrique as the third line centre the writing was on the wall for McLeod. Savoie is an excellent prospect who is close to pushing for an NHL position. This is an excellent bit of work by Jeff Jackson once again.
