I have to tell you that I am proud to be writing about this team for our fanbase. When I look at the comments through the thread, I am astonished at the legitimate conversations that are driven by true hockey knowledge. Nobody gets more action than Tom Cruise, and I am truly perplexed by this. Is this season going to be Mission Impossible 14? Just kidding. Nobody gets more dialogue than a Sabres blogger. Regardless of if you comment on my content, it is obvious that you are hands down a community that cares about your NHL team with the best of them. I could argue that it is even above and beyond every other city, but I don’t want to insult the people who might be drinking a 24 of blue tins this evening. I have been doing this endeavor for over a year now and I have had to be critical of management because results do matter. It is a blessing to be able to be a part of a group that is allowed to express their feelings without censorship. Hopefully, with the additions that our Rulers have made, we get to talk about a puzzle that was created on its own, and was a slow burn to a championship. I am not at all disappointed with the acquisitions, it just yet is to be seen if we are an anomaly that manifested a path that transcended the normal process of pressure.

If Kevyn Adams and his team of optic soothsayers held on to a vision that brought us to a miracle on ice, then I am going to shout from the new roof, and jumbotron, that perhaps patience is a virtue. By drafting, and not being a player amongst the bigger markets, they brought us to the brink of exile. From a possible destination, to hockey purgatory. Yet, the dream lives on and we are full of prospects and a new roster of proposed intangibles, that just might put us over the top. So, as the summer finally is in full bloom, we sit here and wait. We have a lot of ammunition to criticize the legitimacy of past failures. They have been inept, and literally wasted our hard-earned money with disillusionment and arrogance. But, I do have a feeling that this might be different. Our general managers career is hanging in the balance and it is all self-imposed. He put himself at the casino table and doesn’t have the leash anymore to hold off the dog pack.

I am one of those canines who need better, and so are all of you. I might be the one-hundred-pound yellow lab who at the sign of the proverbial treat, rolls on his back and will take another belly scratch, but the Sabres faithful are pit bulls. It is time to do everything and anything to feed the family.

Hopefully our plan outshines the status quo in regards to how to resurrect a franchise in thirteen years. I am back in the yard, but will be ready to jump the fence at the first sign of weakness in ownership moving forward. Daycare is over, lessons have been learned, it is time to push for pure bread results.

Let’s champion a new anthem of prosperity. Let’s show once again that we are the hotbed for hockey. Let us not be a parody anymore.

I have to always joke, what else is there to talk about at this time unless Adams gets another hit from the plate. We all have talked it to death, another top six forward would put us at ease, but we just sit and shake our paws if we get a sniff at something good. At this time UPL, Krebs, and Malenstyn are the prevalent names that are not signed, with Greenway being expendable along with three or four defensemen. No room at all for the guys ready to prove themselves from Rochester. Something still has to break. We currently have from my calculations fifteen million or so in cap space not including Reimer or Levi. With Helenius, Kulich, R. Johnson, Rosen, Ostlund, Wahlberg, Komarov, etc, waiting in the pound, so much could still be done. We just will have to see how everything gels. Lindy has enough to go with as it currently stands. He is the factor that we can’t predict, but we know he is a fighter.

A few wild cards from the boredom as we count down to puck drop –

If Zach Benson can improve on his freshman season by twenty points, we just might have a gem moving forward. The kid showed perseverance and passion for the game. I would be surprised if he doesn’t take it to another level. He could help replace Skinners numbers and take the burden off someone who just can’t. Looking forward to witnessing someone possibly turning it up a notch.

Back to Jack Quinn. Obviously, the kid has moves and vision with a quick release. If he can stay healthy, we also have one more sleeper that could put up sixty points or more. Don’t be surprised to have people around the league gushing about his play. With handing out early, responsible contracts to Dylan and Tage, did we miscalculate with JJ and Jack? This is yet to be seen.

To Owen Power, get in a few scuffles during the break. Hit the Gym, let people make you mad, and find an attitude. We are counting on you. That kind of dough is kneaded before you earn the bread.

Thanks
