The Toronto Maple Leafs announced on Wednesday the signing of veteran winger Kyle Clifford to a one-year AHL contract.

The 33-year-old winger was originally acquired from the Los Angeles Kings in Feb 2020 just before the league shutdown along with goalie Jack Campbell, but was not re-signed and went to the St. Louis Blues as an unrestricted free agent. The Ayr, ON native played the entire 2020-21 season with the Blues, but early in the 2021-22 campaign, he
was re-acquired by Toronto for future considerations.

The veteran winger last season signed a two-year NHL deal with the Leafs in 2022 and played all but two games with the AHL Marlies in a role similar to what Richard Clune served in prior to retiring in 2022. Clifford had 28 points (10 goals, 18 assists) in 53 games and led the club with 140 penalty minutes.
