The Columbus Blue Jackets have announced Scott Ford as the new hire for assistant coach. Ford, 44, is a former AHL enforcer that was a player and former assistant coach under Evason with the AHL Milwaukee Admirals from 2013-2018.

Ford spent part of 6 seasons with the Admirals before becoming an assistant coach from 2016-17 until 2023-24 where Evason is bringing up his supporter from the AHL.

This is Ford’s first NHL coaching gig and opportunity, having never played a game. However, he has spent time in the college, ECHL, and AHL as a skater.

The enforcer has also spent parts of two seasons in Ohio with ECHL hockey in both Cleveland and Toledo.

He joins Boll, McCarthy, Backstrom, and Haviland on Evason’s bench.
