Thanks to H2 for the drop. There was a little back and forth about what Detroit would do with Fischer out day to day. If you watch the LaLonde presser, a mention of possible waivers with the call up of a veteran was mentioned. The waivers happened, if it’s a veteran callup that would likely signal Watson.

There is an appetite to see Kasper get in the lineup for nearly everyone. A possible reason that could see Watson instead is the role. His calling card and role is physicality, checking and PK in the bottom 6. Kasper’s callup should probably be a top 6 opportunity with powerplay time. With the firepower New York is bringing you may not want Kasper in the role where he’s going to be taking and making runs to clear the crease (assuming that is the replacement role).

As for Husso, this signals that game one seemed to take the shine off of his preseason. Talbot and Lyon are the tandem temporarily and that is a welcome sight. The odds feel like “zero” in Husso being snagged. Never say never, and should the near impossible happen a chunk of cap space opens up.

Let me know your thoughts, do you think LaLonde’s comments are likely turning toward Watson, or is there a chance Kasper gets the call? Things are shifting around quickly with call ups in the 2nd and now 3rd game of the season. Do you think Husso is getting a humbling moment and that he’ll be right back at the starter’s position or is the club ready to let him sit for a while?
