After being off for 4 days, the Winnipeg Jets were back in action last night and defeated the San Jose Sharks by the score of 8-3 on Connor Hellebuyck night at the Canada Life Centre.

The well rested Jets came out flying and absolutely took it to the Sharks early who played the night before in Chicago. The Sharks were without Macklin Celebrini, who is still on IR as well as Will Smith and William Eklund.

The 1st period concluded with the Jets up 4-1. The Jets got goals from Josh Morrissey, Nikolaj Ehlers (2) and Neal Pionk. All three scored for the first time this season. Two out of the four 1st period goals for the Jets came on the power play. The lone goal for the Sharks in the 1st period was by former Jet Tyler Toffoli, also on the power play.

In the 2nd period, both teams got a goal apiece. Kyle Connor scored his 3rd of the year for the Jets. Luke Kunin got the lone goal for the Sharks in the 2nd period. Jets led 5-2 at the end of the second period.

In the 3rd period, the Jets got two goals from Cole Perfetti on the PP. Vlad Namestnikov scored with just under a minute left in the game. Both Perfetti and Namestnikov got their first goals on the year. The lone goal for the Sharks in the 3rd period was from Fabian Zetterlund.

Some takeaways from the game:

The vaunted Jets power play is now 7-for-14 on the year. The PK gave up its 1st goal of the year on Toffoli’s 1st period marker.

The Jets' second line finally had a break out game. The line of Ehlers Namestnikov Perfetti combined for 11 points. Although half of these points came on the PP, it was still a welcomed sight.

The Jets along with the Lightning and the surprising Flames remain the last three unbeaten teams in the league.

The Jets are next in action tomorrow afternoon vs the Pittsburgh Penguins. Long-time Jet Bryan Little will be honoured during this game.
