Still waiting for “official” lineups to be posted as Detroit faces the Isles. Detroit enters game 6 at 2-3-0 against an Islander team that sits at 2-1-2. Kasper in the lineup would be a welcome sight and the power play saw some better movement in the last game. The game starts at 7:45 on the newly branded “Fan Duel Sports”, which is the new name for Bally’s, which was the new name for Fox, etc. At least one of you has reached out with some issues on seeing the game, both Fan Duel and Hulu have 7 day free trials. I’ve been using Fan Duel (Bally’s) Local and have had no trouble so far.

Tonight would be a great time for Raymond and Kane to put some pucks in the net. The opening schedule has seen tough matches with both wins coming against Nashville and seeing 40 and 38 shots respectively. 2 out of 3 losses have come when Detroit outshot the opposition (Penguins and the first NYR tilt) and they haven’t yet played a divisional rival. Feels like an odd start but the wins are needed regardless.

The PK needs to play a simple game, be sharp in the faceoff dot, and do a better job against zone re-entry. It’s been a nice look forward to see Seider and Edvinsson share a line. From Simon’s first camp, Mo was in his ear (not always in a friendly way) but seemed to be preparing him to be better. The big Swede skates well and Seider just seems to continue to grow in the role of top defenseman.

On the theme of rookies, the next CBA is already looking at a potential path for 19 year olds to be able to go to the AHL instead of having to go back to jr. If they don’t make the main club. This can’t have the CHL feeling great as the NCAA now has agents pushing clients harder in that direction. From the article:

Ryan Kennedy of The Hockey News is reporting that a source of his has told him that the next NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement could have eligibility as an option for 19-year-olds written into it. The news could be another challenge for the CHL who are preparing to navigate the new NCAA eligibility rules. However, the news would be good for players such as Sabres forward prospect Matt Savoie who just spent his age-19 season in the WHL last year

Many (if not most) of you as well as myself have wanted an alternative for the 19 year old players who are ready for it. This is a gain for the players and the AHL/NHL but the CHL may well be having their own meetings about how to address what may be major changes in terms of top players in that league.

As always, let me know your thoughts, and enjoy the game!
