Start Here today...

There has been a ton of talk this season regarding the Leafs playing Graig Berube's style and being more defensive in the process...This has equated to roughly the same record as last year to this point, but the players know this is about learning to play in low-scoring games (like the playoffs).
Most feel the Leafs will find themselves in the playoffs based on their talent alone...

Auston Mathews has bought into this style on an incredible level...He is a Selke candidate at this point..Top three in the NHL for forwards blocked shots...He never fails to impress..

However, the elephant in the room is pending UFA Mitch Marner whose game is built around creative offense and risk-taking...The reality here is he is looking for a contract with huge numbers earned by his offensive output...The belief around the NHL is one of Marner or Nylander won't be back next season..

The Leafs power play has been dismal. And that is Marner's game...not helping...

So it doesn't take alot to see where the rub is...Does Marner/Berube have a chance to work? The basic question is: "Can Marner find all he needs in Craig Berube's system or should the Leaf maximize their asset while they can?

There are no shortage of teams interested and the return could be "future changing."

More to come...
