GAME 21

The saying that any team can be beat on any night rang true this past Thursday when the Blackhawks (in 31st place) claimed a 3-1 victory over the defending champion Panthers.

On paper, Florida is the superior team to Chicago. But that doesn’t always mean anything, as proven on Thursday night when the Hawks downed the Cats.

I actually thought the Panthers played well. They moved the puck really good. And while I have been critical of Knight throughout his time with Florida, I think he had a good game. There was nothing he could do on that first goal, and Craig Smith made a great move on the breakaway for Chicago’s second.

With their superstar (Bedard) struggling this year, Chicago’s bright spot has been the play of veterans like Foligno, Hall, Bertuzzi, TT, Smith, but most of all, their goaltending. These aspects showed up to get over on the Cats.

And so, life goes on…

While frustrating, losing to a bad team can often be turned into a positive and serve as a wake up call.

The Panthers will battle the Avalanche this evening in South Florida.

I don’t know much about COL this year, but I know they have some weapons in Makar, MacKinnon, etc…

At 11-9-0, they currently sit in 4th place of the Central Division.

I would expect a response from Florida tonight. That Chicago loss stings and the best way to get rid of that feeling is come out and get a big win.
