Wings horrific pk allows 3 goals on 4 power plays in loss to New Jersey |

For everyone who ignores how bad the penalty kill is in Detroit, New Jersey clicked at 75% on 4 chances compared to 25% for Detroit on 4 chances. Those special teams were the difference. Someone needs to be off the coaching roster.
The team has absolutely no idea how to handle the PK, and chances in tight seem to exacerbate the issues as Copp and Fischer just look to the sky. The team, defensively, is a joke.
We saw Motte get his first on a nice tip in. Holl got his first playing pinball on ice. Raymond continues to add points to his totals. Kasper and Berggren have moments where they just give up the puck and don’t go for the shot.
Detroit scored one more goal than their last two games combined and lost. LaLonde’s incompetent interference challenge made life worse. Chiarot’s work as a dentist at the end of the 2nd didn’t help. There just doesn’t seem to be a 60 minute effort without some massive breakdown.
In reality, each game lately has felt like (potentially) my last post. This is not the way you want to see it go. That’s just a gut feeling, not necessarily based in anything. The team hasn’t been on the same page except in the power play in all 3 zones. Whatever is needed to put them in line to at least play as a team and not 18 skaters trying to make something happen on their own should have been hashed out a month ago.
As always, let me know your thoughts. NJD has far superior scoring talent. Detroit’s leadership let them down in a game where they had some daylight for a bit. Incredibly disappointing.
1st Period goals:
At 3:41 Detroit’s power play continued to click as Tarasenko put the Wings on the board with assists by Compher and Petry. Vladdy snapped a shot from the top of the left faceoff dot and in. 1-0 DET
At 9:32 Raymond scored on a wrap around. He entered the zone after doing a quick give and go with Tarasenko, skated in deep on the right side and quickly skated around the back of the net
. Petry gets his 2nd assist today (changed to Kasper) and 2 points for Tarasenko. 2-0 DET
With 3:55 left Devils scored just 8 seconds into a power play. 2-1 DET. *Wings challenged for goalie interference, lost the challenge and are facing another power play. Was a terrible call by LaLonde to challenge. New Jersey scored again with 6 seconds left. All on LaLonde for that horrid challenge. 2-2
Shots: 13-7 DET
Score: 2-2
2nd Period goals:
At 1:26 Motte finally got his first of the year. Chiarot shot from the blue line and Motte tipped it in. 3-2 DET
With 8:50 left Devils tie again. 3-3
With 3:11 left Devils grab the lead 4-3.
Thanks to Chiarot Wings will have 4 minutes being short handed to start the 3rd. Unreal

3rd Period goals:
At 3:05 the Devils scored again on the power play. 5-3 NJDty
Wings get one back at 3:27 as a Holl shot went off a defenseman’s skate and bounced past the goalie. 5-4 NJD
Shots: 31-30 NJD
