Connor Hellebuyck and Kyle Connor were selected for team USA and Josh Morrissey was selected for team Canada. Mark Scheifele, who was projected by many to make team Canada, was not selected. At least not yet. One would have to think that if there are injuries to any team Canada forwards, Scheifele may be the first to get the nod. Considering Mark Stone typically goes on LTIR every year a few months before the playoffs start, it may just happen.

Connor Hellebuyck will be the starter for the American team. It will bode well for him to play in such high pressure games against the star studded line-ups he'll be facing. Kyle Connor should be a staple in the top 6 for the Americans. As a Jets fan and blogger for the team, I am most happy with Josh Morrissey's selection to team Canada. For the last few years, he's been amongst the best defencemen in the league. He puts up great offensive stats while playing heavy minutes against other teams best players. It sure seems like a crowning achievement/vindication for his career thus far.

As a team, the Winnipeg Jets have been in a slump. They have lost 4 games in a row and 7 of their last 10. They have indeed come back to earth. With their record now 18-8, they are still amongst the top teams in the league. Nikolaj Ehlers was placed on IR. Coach Scott Arniel indicated he would be out 7-10 days. Brad Lambert was called up and made his season debut last night against the Blues. He wasn't very noticeable despite playing on the 2nd line with Perfetti and Vilardi. Hopefully he gains more traction in the next couple of games. The schedule will start to get softer now for the Jets. They go back on the road tomorrow night when they visit the Buffalo Sabres. Let's see if they can turn the tide and start another winning streak.
