The Trois-Rivieres Lions wrapped up a five-game road trip with a stop to face the Norfolk Admirals (Winnipeg Jets) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Friday: Trois-Rivieres Lions 5 - Norfolk Admirals 3
The Admirals took a quick 2-0 lead with goals early into the contest. Anthony Beauregard cut the deficit to one before the first intermission during the Lions first power play. Alex Beaucage extended his point streak to six games and tied the score in the second period. Later in the frame, Xavier Cormier put the visitors ahead a few minutes later with a shorthanded goal. Cory Thomas doubled the lead with a goal early in the third, when Norfolk took advantage of a power play to make it a one-goal again. Beauregard recorded his second of the evening to give Trois-Rivieres the 5-3 victory.
Saturday: Trois-Rivieres Lions 3 - Norfolk Admirals 2
The Admirals opened the scoring early in the second period that lasted for 1:17 as Jonathan Yantis evened the game. Norfolk grabbed the lead back before the second intermission and Morgan Adams-Moisan tied it in the first half of the final frame. With 4:29 remaining in regulation, Beaucage kept his point streak alive by recording the eventual game winning goal. Trois-Rivieres’ league-leading power play failed to convert on nine opportunities of the evening.
Sunday: Trois-Rivieres Lions 2 - Norfolk Admirals 5
Tommy Cormier jumped on a rebound to give the Lions the only goal of the first period. Norfolk answered back with one goal in the second period and two more in the third before when an own goal by the home team that was credited to Cormier cut the lead to one. The Admirals needed nine seconds into a double minor to Anthony Beauregard to increase the lead, and an empty net goal with 11 seconds remaining put the game out of reach. It was Trois-Rivieres’ first regulation loss in 15 matches.
