Detroit’s 4-2 win over Washington was a much needed breath of fresh air. Fans were also treated to another multi point WJC U20 game from Swedish prospect Axel Sandin-Pellikka. The right shot defenseman now has 7 points after 3 games, even after being left out of the scoring in game 2.
The past year has had enough stress across the board for far too many people. Many of the “escapes” for the circles of people I know were convoluted with, well, “stuff”. In my entire 48 year career of breathing, I never thought I’d see the year where i wished I was more of a football fan. The Detroit Lions are a massive boost for the city and fan base. The Tigers are bringing their own excitement as well. The Red Wings had a rough go.
Yesterday felt like a vacation. A lot of good things happened and once in a while it’s ok just to enjoy it. A bit of a sugar high, the crash was rough after covering hockey for about 6 hours so having “Five Nights at Freddie’s” available on streaming was a nice way to wind down the day. Much more calm.
In all seriousness, please give yourself a vacation from everything if you get that moment. Boost the joy and be around the people you care most about. Detroit won a game with a lot of scoring, and at the WJC a 19 year old prospect is getting a lot of love. Apparently Triple Crown jerseys with the #4 are in abundance. That may make its way to the post Christmas list.
Just soak it in for a few minutes. Last night I stood back and looked at the month of December as a 6 year blogger for the website. Even with a 10 day break in the action, the post game was my 24th post for the month. That’s a crazy month. A lot is happening and yesterday was a frantically fun break from some of the rough ride.
Thank you to each and every one of you who read this or have read anything over the past 6 years. This opportunity is still a dream come true and one that has been a blessing when it was greatly needed. Be good to yourselves and each other. Have a safe and happy new year. Tomorrow will see some more coverage, but it’s a good day just to breathe in a good yesterday.
